Attitude is Altitude

(A life of a miracle - A summary of the text)

It is a short biographical sketch of the life and inspirational story of Nick Vujicic. He was born in Australia but now lives in US. He was born without limbs i.e. he has no arms and legs, medically it is called – Phocomelia.

Though he has not got any limbs he can do many. He can swim, surf, skateboard, play golf, and football. He can write and type on a computer. All this is possible only because of his small foot which is on his left hip.

His father is a computer programmer and accountant. He gave courage to swim and taught how typing on a keyboard of a computer. His mother is a nurse. She invented a plastic device that helps him to hold a pen or pencil between his toes and write.

Initially Nick and his parents felt very bad and spent many years asking why this cruel trick would happen to them. But the religious beliefs, mother, father, teachers, friends and education helped Nick to become an independent personality in his life.

Once he read a news article about a disabled man who succeeded in his life doing small things in a great way. Nick after going through the article realized the purpose behind his birth. Then he started concentrating on good that he had and to make them strengthen. He realized that he has born to give hope to the people who lost their spirits or hopes in life. Since then he became a motivational speaker.

He says ….

“If I fail I try again and again and again. If you fail are you going to try it again?”

“I tell people to keep on getting up when they fall and to always love themselves.”

“If I can encourage one person then my job in this life is done.”

“Challenges are there in our life to strengthen our convictions. They are not there to run us over.”
